Elephant Getaway was born out of a passion to conserve the heritage of one of our greatest icons, the African Elephant. Add to this a love of good food, fine wine and the desire to showcase the splendours of the African bush; our aim is to embrace our guests with the friendly hospitality that South Africans are becoming increasingly known for in the International leisure market.

Aimed at the discerning traveler we are able to tailor your experience to suit your unique requirements – whether you enjoy savouring fine wines in the company of the winemaker, playing golf at any number of the award-winning golf courses along the Garden Route or watching elephants interacting with each other from a few yards away, you will not be left disappointed. Our experiences begin from the time you land and our exclusive tours are purposely kept to a maximum of 8 persons so that you will receive the attention that you deserve.

How we got started

Elephant Getaway was started as an extension of the Knysna Elephant Park – the first elephant orphanage in South Africa. Founded in 1994 and the first to coin the term “a free-range, controlled environment” - the Knysna Elephant Park’s reason for being is to educate all who cross their threshold about the plight of these gentle giants across the continent.

Elephant Getaway’s aim is to extend this message of conservation through education and to showcase the splendours of the African bush, wine farms, fine dining and world-class golf courses, all the while unraveling the story of the African elephant, who serves as our ambassador throughout our travels.
